Discovering she is a Tuatha Dé Danann and that, on her twenty-fifth birthday, she will be able to wield magical powers she never knew she possessed, turns Megan’s life upside down. As if that was not enough, an arrogant, drop-dead gorgeous man tells her she is his mate.

Seamus escaped his mysterious captors seventeen years earlier, taking a little girl with him and returning her to her home. Running for his life since then and needing a respite, he returns to the one location he considers his safe haven. Once there, he spots Megan across the lake and realizes she is the same young child he rescued. Only now, she is stunning enough to make him forget, almost, just how treacherous his life is.

Megan soon realizes fighting her attraction for Seamus, is a losing battle. But when the people hunting Seamus track them down, Megan and Seamus are faced with a much more immediate and deadly threat—a battle for the lives of all the Tuatha Dé Danann. Can they overcome their pursuers and win?

QUESTIONS WITH
PARANORMAL ROMANCE
AUTHOR
EVELYN M. BYRNE

1.  It fascinates me, the different paths writers take to publication. Will you tell us about your journey as a writer? When you started were there any big milestones? What was your first book?

I was driving home from Chicago and I had to pull into a rest stop. I wrote the prologue, dubbed it SOMEDAY, and put it away in the computer. Three years later, I had a dream; I pulled out SOMEDAY and started writing. As the story unfolded I named it: THE MAGIC FROM WITHIN. Four months later a friend of mine told me about East Texas Writers Association and I attended my first meeting. When I read the prologue, the president told me I needed to place it in their upcoming contest. I told her the book was not finished and she asked me if I knew how it would end. I said yes and she told me to write a synopsis. Five months later, I was presented with a 1st place certificate. That was in 2006. After many revisions and another name change, UNKNOWN MAGIC made its début June 15, 2010.

2. What is a typical work day for you?

I get up between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m., make a cup of tea, and head up to the computer where I read and answer emails, check Facebook, and then spend a few hours writing and rewriting. Then I take a break and do any necessary chores. After that, I make phone calls and then it's back to writing for a few more hours.

3. For some writers research is a pain they’re forced to endure, and for others it’s their favorite part. What about you?

I spent a lot of time in Ireland over my lifetime, so I didn’t have much research there. Once I decided I wanted to base the book on Irish Mythology and decided to use Newgrange as the focal point, I began researching the Tuatha Dé Danann. Then the fun part of making them my own came in. Now, I only research areas I want to use in scenes of the books. My biggest problem with research is I have a tendency to get lost in it. The internet to me is such a fun place to surf I have to force myself to get back to work. Another way I like to research is to spend time in that area. My husband and I are planning a cruise so I can do my research for Sean’s book. So, as for research, I love it.

4. Are you a creature of habit, needing a routine to write? Or are adaptable to write when and wherever the mood strikes?

No, I really don’t need an actual routine to write. I just have to make myself sit at the computer. I have a bad habit of finding projects around the house to do, so I now make myself sit at the computer during the week and paint and remodel only on weekends. I do carry a small recorder with me at all times, because I never know when an idea will pop up. Trust me, they never formulate at convenient times either, (i.e. sleeping, driving, in a meeting) so the recorder is handy.

5. Do you have any advice for new writers—maybe things that you’ve learned through trial and error?

Never let anyone take your dream from you. Join a writers group. Go to workshops and conferences. Take writing courses; there are many online. But, most of all join a critique group.

6. Other than writing, what do you love to do?

Read, travel, and spend time with my family and friends. I love building or remodeling.

7. Please tell us more about your first installment in your new A Daughter of Prophecy series, “UNKNOWN MAGIC”.

Megan Tully was kidnapped at the age of eight and in a coma for five years after her rescue. Upon awakening, she cannot remember anything prior to that day. Now she is about to turn twenty-five and Seamus shows up in her life and informs her she is more than human and is destined to be his mate.
She fights her growing attraction for Seamus, but when the people that kidnapped her all those years earlier show up it becomes a fight for her life, and the lives of all the Tuatha de Danann.

8. What was your inspiration for “UNKNOWN MAGIC? Can we expect more from A Daughter of Prophecy series? Or is three it? Will there be a spin-off of characters from this series?

Some of my favorite authors had turned vampires and wares into the ‘person next door.’ I wanted to do the same for the Fae. The Daughter of Prophecy series is just that, a series. I do not plan to stop at three. Book two is scheduled to be out in December, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Book three and four are already in the works.

9. In your new series did you find you had had a favorite character? Did you notice that there was one character over the other that was more intriguing to write than the others?

I cannot say I actually have a favorite. As each of the characters come into the forefront I am enthralled with them. I will say though, I am definitely looking forward to Sean’s and Donovan’s books.

10. What’s up next for you and when can we look forward to seeing it out in our bookstores?

As I mentioned, STOLEN MAGIC, book two in the series, is due out December 14th. In STOLEN MAGIC, Megan’s uncle Patrick finds his mate, as the battle to save the Tuatha Dé Danann escalates. I am currently working on book three and four.

At home, we have a concept we call the "maniana habit" which means procrastination and tardiness with usually a meaningless excuse... that sort of thing. It is so prevalent among us that I had a hard time kicking the habit once I grew up. So I totally understand the force of will Evelyn has to apply to herself to make herself sit at that computer of hers :) Way you go girl!!

Already read the first in the series....It was crazy good...forgot to sleep (ok...didn't want to sleep) because of this book. Megan is kicka$$ and the other characters are not throw aways like a lot of supporting characters u tend to forget in other novels. I discovered her book on Goodreads...check it out...
